End-of-the-Year Barbecueon the GreenApril 29th, 2003 & May 1st, 2004 |
By the end of the 2003 spring semester, it was time to celebrate the success of our first year. So we invited everyone to a barbecue on the green on a sunny Tuesday afternoon in April right before the start of final exams. A couple of hundred people stopped by to enjoy our free food and games, including Twister, water gun fights, and our now infamous donut-on-a-string contest. |
A year later our end-of-the-year barbecue had become an annual tradition. This time we held it on a Saturday to coincide with Clark's Massachusetts Community Waterwatch chapter's earth day clean-up of the Middle River. We pitched in with the clean-up in the morning and invited everyone to the barbecue afterward. It was a beautiful warm, sunny day and spring was in full bloom. |
ROC-U was on hand to provide the music. |
Stephanie made the T-shirts. |
And Waterwatch provided the slip'n'slide, which proved to be a big hit. Greg and Carly made quite a splash... |
...while Babz and Anna had their own techniques. |
Our Waterwatch coordinators kept a watchful eye on the skunk who decided to pay us a visit. |
We don't know this guy. |
We finished the day with our always popular (and tasty) donut-on-a-string contest. |
