Did we do it again?
A year ago we reported that 2014-2015 had been the busiest year in Outing Club history, a distinction previously claimed by 2013-2014, just one year earlier. We're happy to announce that while 2015-2016 didn't completely shatter all of our old records, it definitely kept pace with them.

We embarked upon 51 trips this year, tying last year's record and surpassing our earlier records of 46 in 2013-2014, 45 in 2011-2012, 36 in 2010-2011, and 35 in 2012-2013.
Overall, 215 Clarkies joined us on one or more of our outings this year; about 9% of Clark's undergraduate population. A full 84 of them joined us for multiple trips, resulting in a new club record for combined total attendance of 504, which surpasses last year's record attendance of 494.

As always, we thank all Outing Clubbers who joined us for another incredible year, and especially the six graduating seniors on our e-board. You six have spearheaded our success for years, and we couldn't have done it without you! Thanks to your leadership, the Outing Club has a new and dedicated e-board all set to keep the outdoor spirit alive. (5/15/16)

Wild & Scenic Film Festival returns to Clark - Saturday 4/23
We're excited to join forces with Clark Sustainability Collaborative and Clark University Film Society to co-sponsor of the second annual Wild and Scenic Film Festival at Clark, to benefit the Greater Worcester Land Trust! Held as a part of Clark's Earth Week, this touring festival features inspiring environmental and activism focused films from the 14th annual Wild and Scenic Festival held in January in Nevada City, CA. Doors to Razzo Hall in the Traina Center open at 3:30, and the event will commence at 4pm. Admission is free. (4/19/16)

Fall semester report card: Not too shabby!
Our fall season came to an end the weekend before Thanksgiving break, and we wasted no time tallying up the results from the semester. Here's some of what the Outing Club accomplished in just three short months:

We successfully sponsored 27 events this semester, including 24 trips and 3 on-campus gatherings.
Our 24 trips included 4 weekend or multi-day trips, which ties a club record set in 2011 & 2014.
133 Clarkies participated in one or more of our fall trips, and our total combined trip attendance including all who took part in multiple trips was 282 participants.
Of those 133 Clarkies, 48 were from the class-of-2019, which was by far the largest contingent of any class!
The 55 Clarkies who took part in our annual multi-wave hike of Worcester's Cascades Parklands at the start of the semester set a new club record for our largest trip ever!

Whether you joined us on trips this fall or came along in spirit, we appreciate your encouragement and love for the outdoors! (1/3/16)

Hear Ted's reflections on
his A.T. trek
For five months we followed the adventures of Outing Club member Ted Randich '16 through his blog as he conducted a LEEP project which involved hiking the Appalachian Trail! Now you can hear from Ted firsthand in a series of two talks on Saturday, September 26th and October 3rd at 12pm at the Barred Owl Retreat, 88 Marshall Street, Leicester MA. The Outing Club will be arranging transportation to the Barred Owl for the second talk. Watch our weekly email for details. We hope to see you there! (9/24/15)

Now for something
completely different
Baby farm animals aren't just for kids - college students stressed out over finals can't resist them either! That's why we're bringing the Animal Affair Traveling Petting Zoo to campus on Wednesday, April 29th, on the Green from 11AM-1PM. So take a study break to enjoy some barnyard fun before finals begin, and help make Outing Club's own "final" event of the semester a memorable one. (4/26/15)

Follow Ted on the Appalachian Trail!
Outing Club member Ted Randich '16 is taking his spring semester off to hike the Appalachian Trail! Along the way, he is conducting a LEEP project examining the interaction of nature and culture on the trail, connecting his love of the outdoors with his studies in Geography. Ted’s project is in partnership with with the folks at the Greater Worcester Land Trust (GWLT), who are posting a blog of his hike so we all get to follow right along with him as he travels through the summer. We are so excited for Ted and wish him the best of luck! Happy Trails. (3/19/15)

Thanks for supporting us in Relay for Life of Clark U.

Thanks to everyone who helped support us, Team Outing Club was able to raise nearly $1,200 for the American Cancer Society in Clark's 7th annual Relay for Life event which was held in the Kneller Athletic Center on April 10th, 2015. We definitely had one of the most energetic teams on the floor and stayed right 'til the very end at 2AM! (4/21/15)
