Names/Pseudonyms: Mike "Danger" Elliott
Show name: Clark Progressive Rock/Radio (CPR)
Description: Born out of a combination of rock, classical, and sometimes jazz music, progressive rock pushes the technical and compositional boundaries of rock. Famous prog-rock bands include The Moody Blues, Yes, and Pink Floyd; more modern ones include Porcupine Tree, Spock's Beard, and Pure Reason Revolution. This is not the limit of CPR; you will also hear other tracks along the same lines of ecleticism and experimentation, including but not limited to: progressive metal, trip-hop, new age, ambient instrumentals, chamber jazz, postrock, Neue Deutsche Welle, and Martians (only one of these is a lie).
Interests: raised in the whitest of middle-class Connecticut, Mike’s first exposure to music was classical music over National Public Radio. As he matured, he developed a taste for minimalist piano excursions and catchy guitar riffs, eventually combined into a love for progressive rock.
Skills: Mike has tagged more audio files than Banksy has buildings. He knows HTML, Java, and software of all varieties (Mac and Windows). He is slowly learning the ins and outs of the equipment in the ROCU office. He has more Google-fu in his little finger than Bill Gates has in his entire body.
First Record: Yes: The Ultimate Collection
Why I rock you (we love puns): I’m what you might call a Renaissance man. I’m an Eagle Scout: I’ve canoed 50 miles and ridden a bike 2.5x as far. I do crossword puzzles, play board games from Germany, cook a little bit, and watch a lot of movies. I’ve met an astronaut, a bishop, and a senator. I’ve been on TV and a sports team mascot.
Things we shall not mention: Sometimes I kind of enjoy doing math. I hate mannequins.
