Group Venturing south into Connecticut for only the third time in recent Outing Club history, ten of us enjoyed a peaceful, sunny afternoon walking the shores of West Thompson Lake. From the boat launch area, we hiked the entire shoreline loop and Ravenelle Ponds loop for a total distance of about 5 miles.

We loved the beautiful open fields along the lake's western shoreline.

Nora never misses an opportunity for a little bouldering!

We spotted a frog at a stream crossing and a little snake further up the trail. We also discovered that certain Outing Clubbers are not particularly fond of snakes, at least when taken completely by surprise! You'll have to use your imagination on that one.
