The Dawn of a New Outing Club

Our inaugural misadventure

It all started in the fall of 2002 when a bunch of us outdoor types arrived at Clark University and discovered that it had everything we ever wanted in a college - except an Outing Club.

Pasticcio photos from the 1950s We knew that Clark used to have one, and Clark's old "Pasticcio" yearbooks revealed that it was originally formed in 1952. But sadly the club was no longer active.

So with lots of ambition and a little encouragement, we resurrected it! Becky Alper was duly appointed President (we used to call her our Dictator). She was joined on the Exective Board by Stephanie Sheridan (Vice President), Virginia Cooke, Judd Curtis, Mariah Hamilton, Troy Hill, Greg Ledovsky, and Theo Love.

Broken down carInterest in the club grew by leaps and bounds. On October 5th we set sail on our first adventure - a hike of Mt. Watatic in Ashburnham, MA. We got as far as Route 2 in Fitchburg when one of the cars broke down.

Steph's back yardAfter getting towed we all ended up in Littleton at Steph's house. Some of us went hiking nearby at Oak Hill, and the rest of us relaxed and played games at the park just down the road. Later Steph's family invited us all to stay for dinner. So even though it didn't turn out quite like we planned, we all had a fun and memorable first outing!
