Hike of Newton HillWorcester, MASeptember 15th, 2013 |
click photos to view full size (in new window) Sixteen of us set off on foot down the wild streets of Worcester to Elm Park, where we hiked up roundabout trails intertwined with frisbee golf course fairways to reach the top of Newton Hill, its summit marked by a large grassy field and old signal pole. |
The summit turned out to be a perfect spot for texting, chilling, and checking out the scenery. |
The tail end of our group makes its way down off the summit. |
We descend along the East-West Trail, headed toward the Highland Street trailhead. |
Our hike was strategically timed to coincide with Worcester's annual stART on the Street festival on Park Avenue so that we could check it out afterward. From the East-West Trail we got our first birds-eye view of a little piece of the festival. |
Our whole group arriving at the Highland Street trailhead. From there we split up to explore stART on the Street, meeting many more Clarkies among the huge crowds, and ultimately found our way back to campus when we were ready to call it a day. |
