Indoor climbing at
Metrorock Climbing Cener

Everett, MA

Sunday October 29th, 2006

On a bright Sunday morning, two groups of Clark students drove to Metrorock in Everett, MA in anticipation of the excellent climbing to be had. One car got lost a few times in the road system that is characteristic of Massachussets, but in the end, all arrived safely and on time.

The first step was getting gear and passing the belay test. Those who finished first took advantage of the large 'boulders' to warm up for actual climbing. Everyone passed the test and quickly hit the top rope stations. Jake and Chrissy, totally new to climbing, enjoyed testing the waters on 5.Fun while Amanda and Eli provided backup support. Dave and Dan tried a variety of new routes based on some recommendations while Nora tackled some 5.7's for starters. Everyone switched partners at one point or another, and although there were an odd number of us, everyone managed to climb to exhaustion.

When the tired but happy group left in the late afternoon, the sun was already setting as daylight saving time had just ended. It was another solid day of climbing and one could only hope it would happen again (and oh, it will).
