Hike of Douglas State Forest

Douglas, MA

Sunday September 30th, 2007

Lindsey Kim If a tree falls in the forest...

...will Lindsey walk across it?

...will Kim sit on it?

Well, thanks to our 5-mile Douglas State Forest hike, we now know the answer to those age-old proverbial questions! Our trio of hikers may have been small in number, but their hike afforded no shortage of adventure and intrigue. And it's not every day that you get to hang out on the Midstate Trail!

Early in our hike we met Toby as we were heading along a trail toward Whitin Reservoir. Toby was very big and oh so friendly! He loved to nuzzle and pose with us. Toby and Greg look like a pair of long-haired hippies!

We reached the northern tip of Whitin Reservoir and discovered a frog hiding beneath a log.

We also discovered a big rope swing suspended from the trees above the reservoir and decided to have some fun!

Lindsey Having had a swinging time, Lindsey is chillin' on the banks of the reservoir... thinking about hiking and horses maybe, but definitely not about homework!
