Summer Conference Housing Options and Policies
Rooms in traditional style halls are accessed from a main corridor, and have a maximum capacity of two participants per room. Single rooms are also available. Community or semi- private bathrooms are shared by the participants on a floor. Each room has free local telephone service (phones are not provided) and cable television (televisions may be rented for an additional fee)). Rooms are furnished with beds, closets, desks, chairs, and dressers. Each building has laundry machines, social/study lounges, and kitchen facilities.
Suites (Maywood Street Hall)
Suite Rooms in Maywood Street Hall share a common area within individual suites, and have a maximum capacity of two participants per room. Suites are available in 4 or 6 person sizes, and prices are set per suite, regardless of occupants. Single rooms are also available. Each suite shares a bathroom with private toilet and shower rooms. Each room has free local telephone service (phones are not provided) and cable television (televisions may be rented for an additional fee). The suite common rooms have lounge furniture and additional data and cable hookups. Suite rooms are furnished with beds, closets, desks, chairs, and dressers. Each floor has a study lounge, and the building has one large kitchen, a laundry room, and a social lounge with a wall mounted television.
Apartments (Blackstone Hall)
Apartments in Blackstone Hall share a common living area and a full kitchen with appliances and a dishwasher. Apartments have private bathrooms (1-1 1/2 per apartment depending on configuration), and are the only Air Conditioned housing units at Clark University. Blackstone Hall apartments house 4 or 6 people in a mix of single and double occupancy bedrooms. Prices are set per apartment, regardless of occupancy. Each room has free local telephone service (phones are not provided) and cable television (televisions may be rented for an additional fee). The apartment common rooms have lounge furniture and additional data and cable hookups. Apartment rooms are furnished with beds, closets, desks, chairs, and dressers. Each floor in Blackstone Hall has a variety of study, lounge, and social space. There is a laundry room on the third floor, and an outdoor terrace on the fourth floor.
Policies & Procedures
Groups must provide at least one adult host to reside in the residence hall for every 15 youths housed. Hosts are responsible for ensuring group participants use care with University property and equipment, as well as ensuring proper use of common areas and facilities such as laundry rooms, vending machines, and elevators if applicable. Groups will be billed for any damage or loss incurred because of the actions of participants. Hosts are also responsible for supervising participants in a fashion that ensures that the privacy of other guests within the residence halls is not disturbed.
Alcohol may not be consumed in any public areas. In order to possess alcohol individuals must be over the legal drinking age of 21 years old, and may only consume alcohol within their own living space. Kegs or other common sources of alcohol are strictly prohibited.
Cooking appliances are not permitted in individual rooms or suites. There are kitchen facilities with ovens, stoves, microwaves, and refrigerators available in each residence hall. Pots, pans, and cooking utensils are not provided.
Firearms (including handguns, rifles, BB guns, paintball guns, etc), fireworks, archery weapons, hunting knives, explosives, and other weapons are strictly prohibited.
Candles, oil lamps, incense, halogen lights, lava lamps, cooking devices, and other items that could threaten the safety of a guest in the residence halls are not permitted. If you have questions about a specific item, please contact the RLH Office.
Personal Safety/Security Awareness
Please do not bring valuables or excessive amounts of money to campus. Clark University does not assume any responsibility for accident, illness, or property loss. We urge you to protect yourselves and your belongings by doing the following:
Pets are not allowed in University Housing
Furniture is to remain in its original placement. Mattresses are not allowed to be removed from the rooms.
Smoke Free Campus
Clark University is a smoke free campus. Smoking is strictly prohibited in and within 20 feet of all buildings.
Prior to checking out, please make sure all trash has been removed, that room lights are turned off, and that doors are locked. Bed linens should be left in the room for pickup.
